Police Call Prescription-Drug Abuse “Epidemic”

Police say the Percocet tablets have become the drug of choice for teens and young people in their 20s, replacing the once widespread OxyContin but leading area youth down the same dangerous path of addiction and crime.

“It’s an epidemic. It’s out of control,” said East Bridgewater Detective Michael Jenkins, a member of the regional “WEB Task Force” that seized nearly 200 Percocets from two area teens and a 22-year-old on Sunday after a months-long probe into drug dealing in the area.
