Heroin Use Rises in St. Louis Area; Feds Say Springfield Could Be Next

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A new drug trend is hitting Missouri. Law enforcement agents say the rise in heroin use could spread from the St. Louis area to Springfield.

Agents with the Drug Enforcement Agency say Springfield usually mirrors what happens in St. Louis when it comes to drugs. In July 2009, St. Louis Heroin Treatment Clinics reported a 51-percent increase in patients. This comes after another increase as well.
