WOULD YOU RISK NOT MEDIATING AN AVOIDABLE WORKPLACE THREAT?

Why did you start drug testing in the first place?
We bet it is because you know that a habitual drug user brings risks to work every day. Psychemedics is trusted by the most recognized names in business to keep those risks outside their workplaces.

> ABOUT PSYCHEMEDICS

Psychemedics was established in 1987 to provide testing for drugs of abuse using hair analysis, and pioneered commercial availability of hair testing. We are the world leader. Our test is the best alternative to identify lifestyle users; those with a long-term pattern of drug use.

> HOW DOES OUR TEST WORK?

Ingested drugs circulate in a person’s bloodstream and nourish the developing hair follicle. Trace amounts become trapped in the core of the hair shaft in amounts roughly proportional to those ingested. The standard test uses a one-and-a-half inch sample of head hair, which provides an approximate 3 month history of drug use. A cosmetically undetectable lock of hair is snipped above the scalp line from the back of the head Collection is more sanitary than a urine collection. If head hair collection is not possible, Psychemedics offers the only FDA cleared test for both head and body hair.

> AVOID COSTLY HIRING MISTAKES

Although a Psychemedics hair test will detect even casual usage, it is especially valuable in identifying people with patterns of usage over long periods of time. Where a urine or oral fluids test detects usage for a period of a few days, our test looks back a full three months. That is the only way an employer can ensure habitual abusers are identified before a hiring mistake is made.

WHY PSYCHEMEDICS OVER URINE?

Highest Detection Rate

In side-by-side evaluations, Psychemedics identified 6-10X more users than a urine test

Lowest Cost-Per-Detection

Our ROI is second to no one. Divide the total testing cost by the number of users identified and urine testing costs 5X more than Psychemedics for each detection

Most Sanitary Collection

Since hair may be collected from behind a donor, face-to- face interactions are minimized. No special facilities required means cleaning between collections is simplified

Best Donor Experience

Non-intrusive collection requires no body fluids or their containers and potentially unsanitary handling by the donor.

Better Follow-Up Testing

If the result of a drug test is challenged, a drug user need only abstain from use for a few days to pass a follow up urine test. But a hair sample collected soon after the original test delivers a 90-day record of use and abstaining for a few days will not change the result
