“But over the past six months, federal and local law enforcement officials here have noted that even the heavy flow of narcotics moving through Southeast Texas seems to be widening.
“The traffic really has increased here,” said Daniel Doty, a local spokesman for the U.S. Border Patrol. “We’ve already seized more marijuana in the first half of this year than all of last year.”
