Prescription drug abuse is ‘a major threat’ in Harrisburg region

“Police departments and anti-drug advocates are increasingly warning parents that an unsecured medicine cabinet can be as dangerous to teenagers as an unlocked liquor cabinet. National statistics say prescription drug abuse is a threat that has remained strong in recent years, after taking off in the 1990s and early parts of the 2000s.
Local police departments — especially in the suburbs — say they’ve seen more teenagers lately become addicted to painkillers, depressants and stimulants prescribed to someone else. “

Men Used Surfboard To Smuggle Marijuana
“Agents arrested the men as they paddled several yards of the coast of Imperial Beach, authorities said. Bundles of marijuana were attached to a surfboard the men were towing, agents said. The haul weighed in at 141 pounds and was valued at almost $84,600, according to agents.”
